International Migrants Day 18 December

Posted on 18th December 2020

2020 Theme: Reimagining Human Mobility #MigrantsDay

Migrants contribute their knowledge and skills to build more resilient communities. Migrants have been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19. Their work in health, transportation and food services made our lives under lockdown better.

However, like many who find themselves living are being excluded by society. Migrants are affected by COVID-19 through job losses, evictions and discrimination.

Many migrants are on the outskirts of society living in poverty without income or shelter, unable to return home due to COVID-19. They face increased risks of human trafficking and exploitation.

Transient people have hope for a brighter future. It is all our responsibility to create a safer, more resilient world.

On #MigrantsDay, let’s reaffirm our commitment to safe migration for all.
