Steering Group Volunteer, Ann in conversation with Admin Volunteer, Nuala
- Who am I and what I do with AM?
I’m Ann and help AM on the Steering group and as a speaker for their Volunteer Training Programme. Sharing my story of advocacy support. I find it very interesting. I’m also am a Steering group volunteer.
- How I got involved with AM?
Been with them a long time. First worked with an Advocate called Wendy who helped me, when I had to move. I decided to volunteer to do something different. I love it! The people are friendly and they have great volunteer parties and get togethers.
- Memorable Volunteering Moment
Talking to lots of different people and helping to motivate new Volunteer Advocates.
· How I make a difference
By telling my advocacy story during AM Volunteer training.
Volunteer factoid:
More than half of the UK population gets involved in informal volunteering – but this is less visible. Informal volunteering can involve things like going shopping, providing childcare or doing housework for free for someone who is not a relative or a friend.
