‘I really could not have done it without you. Thank you so much, everything you have done for me has been greatly appreciated. I have gained independence in my own home’.

Jasmine has a physical disability and is a wheelchair user. She had been unable to access the upstairs of her house or sleep in her own bedroom for nearly two years.

Jasmine was referred for an advocate and this is what she wrote to her advocate about her experience.

‘You will be very happy to learn that after almost 2yrs my stairlift was fitted on Friday and I was able to access my bedroom and sleep on my bed.

It has been a lengthy and difficult process, and I feel without your support and guidance, it would still be ongoing.

You helped me to stay focused on following up with occupational therapist, my housing association. Also your very valuable advice on getting my local MP involved. Our combined efforts of regular updates, emails, phone calls and a visit from my MP to the OT department finally enabled me to get my stairlift I so desperately needed.

As you know when I contacted you earlier this year for your help, I felt as if I had been ‘lost’ in the system. For almost 18 months I had no progress with the housing association or my Occupational therapist. With your guidance we were able to resubmit my, already approved, application and follow it up to completion.

I really could not have done it without you. Thank you so much, everything you have done for me has been greatly appreciated. I have gained independence in my own home’.
